The Centre builds knowledge, insight and data through drawing on the experience of practitioners, policymakers and researchers as well as stimulating global discourse and dialogue on key governance questions in the world today.
As an intern at OGC you will earn an understanding of how international organisations function, gain knowledge on key and acute global governance challenges and be part of a diverse and dedicated team working on promoting inclusive, accountable and effective governance. You must have strong time management and organizational skills, work as a team player and be comfortable working on a variety of tasks.
Application process:

- Updated CV as well as the contact details (email and telephone number) of the Candidate and at least three (3) professional references.
- Brief description of why the individual considers him/herself as suitable for the internship.
- In accordance with the UNDP Internship policy, UNDP interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend, with a rate that varies depending on the duty location. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.
- Where an intern is financially supported by an institution, government or third party, UNDP will pay the intern the difference, if any, between the external financial support provided and the applicable UNDP stipend.
- Except for the stipend, all other expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions.
- Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP, but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of the GPCG, the intern will:- Assists in the development of project communications and other advocacy materials including, among others: concept notes, term of reference, presentations, proposals, speeches remarks, social media content.
- Assist in enlarging OGC network of research and knowledge partnerships in the Scandinavian countries.
- Participates in internal and external meetings, events, and other necessary engagements with project stakeholders, collaborative partners and potential collaborative partners.
- Support the thematic work streams in OGC as needed.
- Assist in preparing launches of UNDP reports and other public events.
- Develop analyses and background documents on key governance issues, as well as drafting and editing other materials.
- Additional task as required to support the work of the OGC.
Competencies
- Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian; written and oral.
- Demonstrated interest in global development and the work of international organisations.
- Strong interest in governance and democracy questions.
- Team player; works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Knowledge of Norwegian bureaucracy and political landscape is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience with key knowledge and research institutions in the Norway is an advantage.
- Good social media skills; knowledge of web publication tools and photo editing tools is an asset.
- Work experience from a developing country and/or an international organisation or related is an advantage.
Required Skills and Experience
Languages:- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Fluency in spoken and written Norwegian is required.
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent); preferably in journalism, communications, international affairs, international development or other relevant social sciences.
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher); preferably in journalism, communications, international affairs, international development or other relevant social sciences.
- Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
