Service Engineer

Wärtsilä’s alarm and control systems are used for controlling, monitoring, and analysing vessel devices and processes. The system consists of both software and hardware components and enables remote and on-site collecting of data from field equipment. In that way, it allows our customers to remotely manage energy savings such as fuel consumption both in power plants and air conditioning onboard.
We are now looking for a Service Engineer to join our team. The location for the position is in Drammen (Norway).

We are now looking for a Service Engineer to join our team. The location for the position is in Drammen (Norway).
As Service Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Service, system-refit- refit and Sea Trial assistance worldwide
- Warranty handling in newly built ships
- Analysing software/hardware failures through support to ship-owner / ship personnel on high-end automation systems mainly in the cruise ship market
- Troubleshooting / fault-finding / correction of software and hardware onboard sailing vessels
- Developing software and software templates both in-house and on-site
You will shine in this role, when you have:
- Experience with Automation systems (SCADA)
- Experience in programming PLC and/ or C++
- Experience with large/complex Networks
- Experience with technical troubleshooting on the computer and electronic equipment
- Advantage with experience in power management systems/ships power plants and communication interfaces both serial and tcp/ip (e.g. Modbus, NMEA…) Fluent in English and Norwegian, both verbally and in writing
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; automation and programming
- Systematic and self-driven
- Eager to learn and overcome challenges with success
- Able to obtain security clearance according to National Security Authority regulations
