About Teledyne FLIR
Teledyne FLIR is on the hunt for a committed Systems Administrator to join our team in the Hvalstad office, playing a crucial role within our global support network. This position is tailored for someone eager to provide exceptional second-line, on-site IT support to our 200-strong workforce in Norway, including our research and development hub in Hvalstad and the manufacturing unit in Honefoss/Eggemoen.
As a vital part of the IT Shared Services (ITSS) division, you'll collaborate closely with Teledyne FLIR employees across various departments, ensuring seamless IT operations. Your responsibilities will encompass administering Windows Servers, offering on-site operational support, and contributing to project initiatives as needed. While your primary focus will be the Hvalstad office, you'll also support our Honefoss production facility's on-site technician, ensuring comprehensive coverage and efficiency in our IT operations.

System Administrator:
  • In Norway, a suite of Windows Servers requires ongoing maintenance, including patching, backups, and ensuring high availability.
  • Teledyne adheres to rigorous security standards, with significant efforts dedicated to enhancing these protections further.

Onsite Support:
  • The position will be responsible for onsite IT support for assigned Teledyne FLIR locations working as part of a virtual team to provide customer support, troubleshoot and resolve IT incidents and requests (tickets), and escalate un-resolved tickets and follow up through completion on the tickets.
Work location:
  • The primary workplace is the Hvalstad facility, serving 91 users. This role necessitates full-time office presence. While remote work opportunities exist, they are evaluated and granted on an individual basis.
Travels:
  • Routine visits to our affiliate office in Honefoss, accommodating 100 users, are required, occurring every two weeks.
  • Additional international travels may take place, visiting remote locations. Estimated 4 travels per year.
Customer service:
  • The position will be responsible for interfacing directly with the Teledyne FLIR employees who have IT problems. This will be done in person, via phone and various forms of written communication (e.g. email, ticketing system and instant messaging).
Troubleshooting / resolution:
  • The position will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving all IT “tickets” (i.e. incidents and requests) received from the IT Help Desk. The tickets will be span all areas of IT (e.g. general PC issues, local printer issues, mobile phone requests, system access, application issues, data base issues, server issues, network issues, security issues, virus detection, etc).
Assignment and Escalation:
  • The position will be responsible for escalating IT “tickets” (i.e. incidents and requests) to the appropriate IT team (e.g. IT infrastructure, application team, security team) if he/she is not able to resolve the ticket. During assignment and escalation, the position will be responsible for communicating with both the client and the technical team to which the ticket has been assigned.
Project Assignments:
  • The position will periodically be assigned project work in parallel with support responsibilities. Typical projects could include computer deployments, system implementation support, facility moves, etc.
Administrational tasks:
  • Working with budgets and placing orders.
  • Ensuring sites meet audit requirements and performing monthly SOX audits.
  • We are looking for a driven person who think changes are exiting and understands that IT support is a service role that requires a good hand with the users.
Qualifications:
  • Computer related Degree/Diploma/Microsoft Certification or equivalent work experience.
Competencies & Skills:
  • General:
    • Exceptional analytical and methodical troubleshooting abilities.
    • Proficient in English, both verbal and written communication.
    • Proficient in Norwegian, both verbal and written communication.
    • Excellent customer service attributes
  • System Administrator:
    • Proficiency in virtualization technologies, specifically v Sphere and Hyper-V.
    • Understanding of networking concepts like VLANs, routing, switching and Wi Fi.
    • Experience with backup systems, preferred Commvault or VEEAM.
  • IT Operations:
    • Strong MS Office knowledge, esp. Word, Excel, Outlook 365.
    • Strong Windows 10/11 knowledge.
    • Good Microsoft Active directory knowledge.
      • Understanding of permissions structures in an AD environment.
      • Group Policies.
    • Any experience with Linux is advantageous but not essential, such as deploying and supporting client systems.
    • Good i OS and Android knowledge.
    • Hardware purchases, deployment and maintenance (Dell, SCCM PXE).
    • Printer support.
  • Genuine interest in IT and/or any other related subject.
This position requires access to export-controlled information or items (i.e. regulated technology or technical data per ITAR/EAR US regulations). Applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
