Reporting directly to the Head of IT Operations, you will play an important role as a key member of our highly skilled IT team, collaborating across all Nel business units and locations. The position is based at our production facilities in Herøya/Porsgrunn, Norway.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure solutions, including servers, networking devices, storage systems, virtualization, and cloud platforms
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, processes, and cloud services to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of the infrastructure, and support current and future business needs
- Manage and administer physical and virtual servers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security and migrate on-premises workloads to the cloud where applicable
- Configure and maintain networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls
- Monitor the performance and capacity of the infrastructure, identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks proactively
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's data and infrastructure from cyber threats
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to design and implement integrated solutions that meet business requirements
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and policies
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members and stakeholders
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in infrastructure architecture, system administration, and cybersecurity
- Higher education within Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role
- Proven experience in designing and managing IT infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud with strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and services
- Strong knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization technologies (VMware), and cloud platforms, primarily Azure
- Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls)
- Experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written. Good Norwegian skills would be an advantage
- A valid work permit in Norway is required
- Structured and systematic, with a solution-oriented mindset
- Detailed oriented with the ability to see the whole picture
- Proactive and self-motivated with high level of initiative and excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks, also under pressure
- Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary and international environment, with high degree of collaboration across locations
- Operational, naturally hands-on with a focus on quality and a strong ability to deliver
- A team player, with good communication and collaboration skills
