LOCATION: NSWC Panama City
This position is contingent on a proposal.
Candidates with experience working at NSWC Panama City are highly preferred.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Performs specialized marine and shore-based tasks in support of SCORE and Fleet training
- Launch/recovery/operation of small boat
- Stand watch while vessel underway
- Loads cargo as part of deck department team under supervision of Mate
- Maintenance to vessel in accordance with Preventative Maintenance Program
- Maintain cleanliness of vessel and accompanying equipment
- Prepares meals in accordance with crew meal schedule
- Works in team environment as “Deck Lead” under immediate supervision of Mate/Captain receiving technical guidance as required
- Provides oversight and mentoring to OS/deckhand(s)
- Protection to the environment in accordance with local, state and federal law
- Maintenance of network/NMCI access by regularly accessing computer network system
- Must have the ability to acquire and hold a Secret Security Clearance
- Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) - Minimum rating AB or AS Special National Rating and valid TWIC card
- Valid Driver’s License
- Basic Safety Training STCW
- Minimum 5 years vessel experience
- Must be able to complete company operational specific training with 120 days of hire
- Must be proficient in written and verbal English language skills
- Must be able to swim and pass annual company physical
- Must be physically fit, and capable of spending extensive hours/days at sea in all weather conditions including performing their emergency duties listed in the vessel Station Bill
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
- Able-Bodied Seaman Special (AB Special) - National Rating
- TWIC Card
- Basic Safety Training STCW
- Lifeboatman (Proficiency in Survival Craft)
- CPR/First Aid Card
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
