Job Description

Do you like to work outdoors? Do you like to have different things to do each day? Then, apply for our Collections and Distribution/Pipeline Technician for our Utilities Department. Our technicians help keep our potable and wastewater flowing by ensuing our pipelines are properly functioning. It is a moderate to heavy manual job involving the installation and maintenance of water/sewer utility service equipment.
Our Collections and Distribution/Pipeline Technician performs installation and maintenance duties on water utility lines and other water services equipment such as taps and water meters; troubleshoots and makes emergency repairs to water/sewer utilities as required; operates light duty truck in delivering goods and equipment to field site; investigates and adjusts complaints on water utility service; performs other duties as assigned.
If you have knowledge of principles, practices and techniques utilized for the installation and maintenance of various aspects of water utility systems; can demonstrate skill in the use of required tools and equipment; have a working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; are able to carry out oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with the public; and are willing to perform manual work, lift heavy objects, and work on a team, then this position is great for you! The ideal candidate has a standard high school diploma or GED, at least one year of experience in performing moderate to heavy manual labor, preferable in the utility services arena; and a valid Driver's License, CDL Class B preferred. in this state. He or she must be a self-starter prepared to get to work with a positive attitude who has the physical strength and stamina to perform the rigorous duties of this job. This position is subject to overtime, standby, and call back duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates light duty truck in delivering goods and equipment to field site
• Performs installation and maintenance duties on water utility lines and other water services equipment such as taps and water meters
• Troubleshoots and makes emergency repairs to water/sewer utilities as required
• Investigates and adjusts complaints on water utility service
• Immediately notifies supervisor of equipment issues that affect life safety and equipment performance
• Follows all safety and security procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• One year of experience required
• Valid driver's license; Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
• Dependable
• Able to follow spoken and written instructions
• Must follow all safety and health rules and regulations
• Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather (heat, rain, etc.)
• Must be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy objects
• Must be a self-starter prepared to get to work with a positive attitude who has the physical strength and stamina to perform the rigorous duties of this job
