Triage Nurse Job Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Triage Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and assessing incoming patient calls for acute issues, prioritizing care based on urgency, managing requests for medication refills, and providing essential support in the outpatient setting. Your expertise in patient triage, medication management, and patient relations will be crucial in ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with women, specifically in an OB/GYN setting, and will have familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athena Health.
Duties

• Conduct initial assessments of patients to determine the severity of their condition via phone and occasionally in person for patient walk-ins.
• Prioritize patient care based on clinical standards and urgency of medical needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement care plans.
• Send prescriptions to pharmacies as prescribed.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment options and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and care provided in electronic health records.
• Order laboratory tests as needed, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
• Assist with patient work-ups on clinic floor as needed during times when the office is short staffed due to illness or vacations.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida RN or LPN license.
• Experience in a triage setting preferred.
• Proficient in managing patient refill requests.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athena Health is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of medication administration protocols and gynecologic testing guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and excellent customer service.
• Experience working with pregnant women is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
