Job Description

The City of Lynn Haven is currently seeking a skilled Utility Service Worker/Collections and Distribution Tech for Public Utilities. This is moderate to heavy manual work involving the installation and maintenance of water/sewer utility service equipment. Work is performed and reviewed under the supervision of the Public Utilties Superintendent.
This position performs installation and maintenance duties on water utility lines and other water service equipment such as taps and water meters; troubleshoots and makes emergency repairs to water/sewer utilities as required; operates light duty truck for delivering goods and equipment to field site; reports need for maintenance or repair of equipment to supervisor; participates in maintenance construction as directed; performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of modern principles, practices and techniques utilized for the installation and maintenance of various aspects of water utility systems; knowledge of the operation and maintenance of standard construction equipment; ability to demonstrate skill in the use of required tools and equipment; knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules governing equipment operation; ability to carry out oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively with the public; willingness to perform manual work and ability to lift heavy objects; sufficient physical strengths and agility sufficient to work out of doors under adverse weather conditions.

The ideal candidate has experience in water/sewer utility service construction and repair. He or she must be a self-starter prepared to get to work with a positive attitude who has the physical strength and stamina to perform the rigorous duties of this job. This position is subject to overtime, and call back duties. • Performs labor related to construction and repair jobs as assigned.
• Reports to work timely and consistently, maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic.
• Follows all safety and security procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Highly professional and dependable.
• Able to follow spoken and written instructions.
• Follows all safety and health rules and regulations.
• Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather (heat, rain, etc.).
• Must be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy objects.
• Must have the physical ability to navigate work sites and work in dirty or dusty surroundings; enter/exit machines comfortably; lift/carry objects; stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms, and legs fully; and see well (naturally or with corrective lenses).
