**Remote Medical Billing Specialist for Orthopedic Practice in the Philippines**
Are you a skilled and dependable medical biller? LA Bone and Joint Institute is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our fast-paced orthopedic practice. This is a full-time, remote position, specifically for professionals based in the Philippines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, NCCI, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong knowledge of E&M Guidelines and billing claim forms (UB04/1500).
- In-depth understanding of health insurance benefits, billing processes, and third-party reimbursements, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, workers' compensation (WC), PPO, IPA, and personal injury (PI) payors.
- Familiarity with eligibility, benefits, and authorization processes across various payors.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and billing software such as e Clinical Works, Waystar, Availity, EPIC, and All Scripts.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in relevant software.
- Excellent time management and the ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with accounts receivable (AR) management of claims.
- Experience with personal injury (PI) and workers' compensation (WC) is a plus.
- Medical Billing Certification is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience required.
- Must have a VPN and the necessary equipment to work remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately post provider charges for designated locations.
- Ensure all charges are submitted as clean claims by scrubbing office visits and services provided for every provider.
- Submit charges for scheduled surgeries, ER calls, and surgery charges.
- Monitor and manage all queued e-claims placed on hold for issues such as upcoding, downcoding, missing addresses, and other discrepancies.
- Handle denials and ensure payments received align with insurance contracts.
- Manage AR claims to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Collaborate with clinic teams to obtain necessary information for clean claims.
- Use various hospital/physician systems to verify patient, billing, and claim information for accuracy.
- Perform compliant primary, secondary, tertiary, and re-bill functions, including electronic, paper, and portal submissions to government and commercial payers.
- Update patient demographics and insurance information in relevant systems.
- Monitor claims for missing information, authorization, and control numbers (ICN/DCN).
- Adhere to guidelines for prioritization, timely filing deadlines, and notation protocols within relevant systems.
- Secure required medical documentation requested by third-party insurance carriers.
- Handle special billing tasks, including interim bills, overlap reviews, and redistributing funds for correct claim creation.
- Resolve and research billing rejections.
