Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing and editing for newspaper outlets or other print media.
Proven track record of producing clean, accurate, and engaging copy under tight deadlines.
Strong familiarity with AP style and other industry-standard editorial guidelines.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style that resonates with newspaper readers.
Strong research skills, with the ability to find and verify accurate information quickly.

Core responsibilities:

Cover breaking or feature news on a real-time basis, generating at least 5-7 stories per day
Syndicate at least 5-7 pre-written stories optimized for SEO and HTML
Generate content ideas in news, scandal, pop culture, royals, entertainment, and crime
Develop longer enterprise and investigative pieces as needed
Manage production and publishing of digital content, packaging each story with headlines and visuals (photos and multi-media) that are uniquely to our brand
Program homepage at times, ensuring a balance of the most important, interesting, and attention- grabbing stories of the moment
Use analytics-driven decision making in selecting content
Assist with breaking news, including social amplification sending out push notifications
Collaborate with reporters and editors across internal editorial departments
Serve as a point person for digital best practices
