Job Summary:
The Truck Driver with Boom is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a truck equipped with a boom crane. The driver will be responsible for loading, transporting, and unloading materials using the boom mechanism, as well as ensuring that all safety regulations are followed during transport and material handling. This role may involve driving to various construction sites or other locations and requires a strong understanding of operating heavy machinery safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Truck Operation:

• Operate and drive trucks equipped with a boom or crane to transport materials, equipment, or machinery to job sites.
• Ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials using the boom, following proper lifting and load management techniques.
• Secure loads properly using straps, chains, or other securing mechanisms before transport.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and the boom to ensure it is in good working condition.

2. Boom Crane Operation:

• Operate the boom crane safely and efficiently to lift, position, and place loads at the designated location.
• Inspect the boom crane before use to ensure proper functioning, including checking hydraulic systems, cables, and safety mechanisms.
• Maintain control of the load, ensuring it is properly balanced and stabilized during lifting and placement.

3. Safety Compliance:

• Follow all company and regulatory safety standards and guidelines when operating the truck and boom.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the truck and boom to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Report any vehicle or equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team immediately.
• Comply with road safety regulations and traffic laws while driving and operating the truck.

4. Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including load weights, delivery locations, and delivery times.
• Complete daily logbooks, pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports, and other required paperwork.
• Report any accidents, traffic violations, or safety issues to the supervisor promptly.

5. Customer Interaction:

• Provide excellent customer service by delivering materials in a timely and professional manner.
• Communicate effectively with clients and job site personnel to ensure proper delivery and placement of materials.

6. Vehicle Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the truck and boom crane as required.
• Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle, both inside and out.
• Schedule and coordinate major repairs with the maintenance team as needed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements for operating a truck with a boom crane.
• Proven experience operating a truck with a boom crane or similar heavy machinery.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and follow all safety procedures.
• Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy loads and perform manual labor when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in operating a boom crane or other heavy equipment
• Previous experience in construction, logistics, or material handling industries.
• Familiarity with the use of GPS and other route planning tools .
