What you’ll do

• Lead the Engineering & Delivery activities within Data Core with focus on the countries of the respective cluster including but not limiting the low-level design, implementation, delivery and optimization of Data Core systems and networks in these countries including but not limited to Packet Core and dual core (SPC), Policy, Radius, Vo Wi Fi, Core optimizers and the new 5G Dual Core (SPC) network as well as Fixed and Mobile DNS and Mobile Private Network deployments as well as Secure Net service. We are in a very active strategic and transformational moment towards cloud.
• Manage all the relevant relationships with local stakeholders in the cluster countries, in particular network operations and other local teams for the implementation of usual network capacity management or configuration activities, special projects, commercial demand activities or emergency handling situations. The role has relevant exposure to senior stakeholders such as Portugal and Ireland CNOs and the business units as there is an active strategic push momentum to deliver 5G SA Core and use cases to keep leading in these very competitive markets.
• Accountable for optimisation activities within Data Core in those countries, performance analysis and improvements devised as necessary.
• Responsible for developing and expanding the team’s technical skills and experience. Responsible to guarantee consistency and harmonisation across the group, promoting and delivering all possible best practise processes & cost savings initiatives.
• Local in-country implementation of the Data Core Network Evolution Plan
  • Align and steer local engineering implementation in the cluster countries to the regional strategy and roadmap
  • Allocate/guarantee resources for the execution of the engineering strategy for Data Core network
  • Report to planning teams local implementation progress and gap towards network plan
  • Execution of the engineering strategy for Data Core
• Ownership and maintenance of the country Data Core Low Level Design
• Detailed Engineering of complete Data Core Network in the country.
• Direct management of the interface with regional and local in-country operations teams
• Defining, planning and scheduling all data core network activities and interventions
• Being accountable for those activities and analysing/reporting relevant issues concerning risk, cost/benefit, effectiveness and efficiency
• Management of the engineering team dealing with Data Core networks in the cluster countries:
  • Being accountable for all optimisation activities looking for the best performance guaranteeing the required support to local initiatives engaging with relevant local stakeholders as needed
• Management of the data core budget execution in the cluster countries and active promotion of benchmarking across countries in the cluster, aligning with best applied practises and harmonising design whenever possible

Who you are

• University degree: telecommunication degree, MBA recommended with more than 5 years of experience;
• Solid knowledge of network design / architecture and Core network experience;
• Operational experience;
• Good stakeholders management;
• Strong performance & customer orientation;
• Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results/change;
• Results oriented;
• Exposure to operational environments and projects;
• Established networking in the countries of the cluster;
• Data service performance management experience;
• Established networking or closeness with other engineering domains also deeply impacting performance such as transmission, radio, etc;
• Solid communications skills;
• Deep sensitivity to and experience with operational and execution challenges and issues coming from the countries constituting the cluster;
• Create an end-2-end visibility and comprehension of Data Core networks and issues in the specific countries of the cluster;
• Identifying/understanding the best opportunities for in country improvements within Data Core in line with the strategy, analysing potential risks of that strategy for these specific countries and supporting Planning Design and Dimensioning team to adjust/improve the plan if needed;
• Strong established relationships with stakeholders in the cluster countries, namely with local operational and commercial/demand teams and stakeholders.
