Flow Cytometry Technician for the Flow Cytometry Platform

Champalimaud Research has an open position for a Flow Cytometry Technician for the Flow Cytometry Platform that will support the various research areas in the centre. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about a career in science but are seeking beyond a traditional academic or lab position. As Flow Cytometry Technician, you will work at the interface of cutting edge technology and high-impact research. You will have access to a variety of advanced facilities and technical resources. You should be eager to contribute to an intensely collaborative environment and enjoy the challenge of participating deeply in diverse scientific projects. The platform supports all Champalimaud Research laboratories, providing comprehensive training for independent use of analytical instruments and performing cell sorting of samples at biosafety levels 1 and 2.
Work Plan

• Run Cell Sorters/Analysers to meet the needs of all Platform end users (FACSAria Fusion, LSR Fortessa X20 and SONY ID7000);
• Provide support and technical advice for independent users of analytical instruments;
• Ensure quality control on all instruments available;
• Ensure data, run templates, sort reports and all associated documents per end user are uploaded into appropriate Platform archival and intranet systems;
• Perform other duties as requested by the supervisors.

Requirements
Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Biological sciences
Skills/Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
Essential skills

• Fast learner;
• Good teamwork and interpersonal relationship capabilities;
• Excellent level of English;
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact in an environment with multiple users.

Specific Requirements
Desirable skills that will also be considered

• Experience operating BD FACS FUSION sorters and BD LSRFortessa analysers;
• Experience in Biosafety Levels 2;
• Previous working experience in a flow cytometry platform is desirable, but not mandatory;
• Experience in flow cytometry software (DIVA, Flow Jo);
• Prior experience in service facing role or technical support.

Eligibility criteria
Evaluation and selection criteria (respecting article 37 of Decree-Law No. 63/2019, of 16 May)

• Candidates will be screened to determine eligibility based on minimum qualifications listed in call;
• Candidates meeting minimum requirements will be scored according to the required application materials.;
• CV 50% Letter of Motivation 30% Interview 20%;
• If provided, and if shortlisted, candidates’ referees may be contacted and may count towards evaluation.

• Proof of qualifications (certificates) may be required at a later date for the formalisation of the contract agreement. Degrees obtained abroad may need to be formally recognised in Portugal.

Notification of results
All candidates will receive a receipt of acknowledgment within 7-10 business days. The highest scoring candidate will be notified by email or telephone. All other candidates will be notified solely by email of the final outcome of the recruitment process.
After being notified, candidates will have 10 working days to present a claim for redress by email (careers@research.fchampalimaud.org). If no claim is received by the Champalimaud Foundation, the Evaluation Committee's decision will become definitive.
