Legal Associate

Reports To: Chief of Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) Committee
Company: Naseh, the first Qatari legal tech startup
Qualifications:
- Law Graduate (2018-2022): Must hold a law degree from an accredited institution. Preference for those with exposure to corporate, tech, or contract law.
- Fluent in Arabic and English: Proficient in both languages, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Qatari Laws and Judicial System: Must have an in-depth understanding of the Qatari legal framework, including civil and commercial laws, regulatory requirements, and the judicial process.
- Experience with Legal Content Creation: Demonstrated ability to produce engaging, accurate, and clear legal content for multiple platforms, including social media, blogs, presentations, and workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Content Creation and Public Engagement
- Social Media & Blogs: Develop clear, informative, and engaging legal content tailored for social media audiences and blogs, ensuring that complex legal topics are accessible to the public.
- Presentations & Workshops: Write and deliver high-quality legal content for presentations and workshops, providing valuable insights and educational material for various stakeholders, such as clients, legal professionals, and students.
- Content Strategy: Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to ensure that legal content aligns with the company’s brand and messaging.
2. Contract Review & Drafting
- Review of Contracts: Ensure all contracts, agreements, and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) align with Qatari law and meet the company’s legal and operational standards.
- Drafting Contracts: Assist in drafting contracts for a variety of purposes, including partnerships, vendor agreements, and service-level agreements (SLAs), ensuring accuracy and legal soundness.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and flag any potential risks within contract terms and propose mitigation strategies or alternative language to protect the company’s interests.
3. Policy Development & Compliance
- Company Policies: Assist in the drafting and review of company-wide policies (e.g., data protection, HR, and operational policies) to ensure they meet the legal and regulatory standards in Qatar.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor the latest developments in Qatari laws, and advise on adjustments or updates required to maintain compliance.
- Law Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research and analyze Qatari laws relevant to Naseh’s operations, ensuring the company’s activities remain compliant with regulatory frameworks.
- Document Review: Conduct thorough reviews of legal documents, ensuring adherence to legal and operational standards.
4. Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) Support
- GRC Assistance: Provide direct support to the Chief of Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) by:
- Research & Advisory: Analyzing relevant laws and regulations, advising on risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring GRC practices are aligned with local and international standards.
- Committee Coordination: Participate in GRC committee meetings, preparing reports, summarizing findings, and providing legal analysis.
- Policy Oversight: Ensure company policies related to governance, risk, and compliance are up-to-date and legally sound, conducting regular reviews to assess any legal or regulatory gaps.
5. Additional Responsibilities
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with different departments (e.g., development, marketing, HR) to provide legal guidance and ensure compliance with internal procedures and external laws.
- Legal Research: Stay updated with the latest legal trends, case laws, and regulatory changes in Qatar, particularly those affecting the tech and legal sectors.
- Workshops & Training: Occasionally conduct internal training sessions on legal topics relevant to the team, such as contract management, compliance, and legal risk management.

- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable working in a tech-driven environment, with an understanding of how technology and law intersect, particularly in the field of legal tech.
Impact of the Role:
This role is crucial in ensuring Naseh operates within the legal framework of Qatar while continuing to offer innovative legal tech solutions. By producing high-quality legal content and providing expert legal support, the Legal Associate will help build trust with clients, support the company’s growth, and uphold Naseh’s reputation as a leader in the legal tech space. Additionally, by assisting the Chief of GRC, this role will play a vital part in ensuring Naseh’s compliance with governance standards and risk management practices.

Contract length: 3 months
Pay: QAR3,000.00 - QAR5,000.00 per month
