The role involves conducting risk assessments, implementing loss prevention strategies, and ensuring regulatory compliance to protect assets, people, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Risk Assessment & Analysis:
- Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments for various industrial processes and operations.
- Identify potential loss factors such as fire hazards, equipment failures, environmental risks, and operational hazards.
- Develop and maintain loss prevention policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Design and implement safety systems, including fire suppression systems, emergency shutdown systems, and hazardous material handling protocols.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current safety systems and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure loss prevention measures are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations, such as OSHA, NFPA, and EPA standards.
- Prepare and submit reports for regulatory bodies and participate in audits and inspections.
- Liaise with insurance providers, consultants, and government agencies to ensure safety standards are met.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and produce reports for management and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct training sessions for employees on safety and loss prevention best practices.
- Promote safety culture within the organization through awareness programs, drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to operational teams regarding safety protocols and risk mitigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field).
- Certification in Fire Protection, Safety Engineering, or Risk Management is preferred (e.g., CFPS, CSP).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in loss prevention, safety engineering, or a similar field, preferably in high-risk industries.
- Knowledge of safety and risk management regulations and standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA, API, HSE guidelines).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software for risk analysis and safety management (e.g., HAZOP, PHA tools).
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard identification techniques.
- Familiarity with insurance loss control practices and risk assessment frameworks.
- Knowledge of safety system design, including fire detection, suppression, and emergency response planning.
