Job Overview:
The Pharmacist is responsible for the accurate dispensing of medications, ensuring patient safety, and providing guidance on the safe use of medications. The role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals, advising patients on drug therapies, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations. The pharmacist will also oversee the management of inventory and the handling of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately review and dispense prescriptions based on healthcare provider instructions.

• Counsel patients on proper medication use, possible side effects, and storage.

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards for all dispensed medications.

• Provide professional advice to patients regarding drug interactions, dosage, and possible side effects.

• Address patient concerns regarding medications and offer appropriate alternatives when necessary.

• Conduct medication reviews and offer recommendations for therapy adjustments to optimize patient outcomes.

• Monitor patient medication adherence and suggest interventions when necessary.

• Ensure adherence to pharmacy laws and regulations, including Good Pharmacy Practices (GPP), and maintain records of all pharmaceutical transactions.

• Stay up-to-date on changes to pharmaceutical laws and medical guidelines.

• Maintain accurate records of medication stock, ensuring the availability of essential drugs.

• Conduct regular audits to track inventory levels and prevent supplies.

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.

• Provide drug information to healthcare providers, ensuring that prescribed medications are safe, appropriate, and effective for patients.

• Prepare and dispense compounded medications when necessary, following pharmacy compounding guidelines and standards.

• Ensure that all compounds and preparations are made with precision and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Regularly review prescription and patient records for potential medication errors or contraindications.

• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services and patient care.

• Provide educational seminars or workshops for patients and the community on medication management, chronic disease prevention, and healthy living.

• Engage in public health initiatives such as vaccination drives and health screenings.

Key Competencies and Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, therapeutic classes, and disease management.

• Understanding of pharmaceutical compounding, inventory management, and dispensing best practices.

• High level of precision in reading prescriptions, dispensing medications, and preparing compounds to ensure patient safety and accuracy.

• Strong knowledge of local and international pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., Qatar Ministry of Public Health, FDA, EMA) and ethical standards in pharmacy practice.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively explain complex medical information to patients and healthcare providers.

• Compassionate and patient-focused, with strong customer service skills to ensure patient understanding and satisfaction.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess medication issues and provide appropriate solutions.

• Ability to make sound decisions regarding medication therapy adjustments and patient care plans.

• Ability to provide personalized pharmaceutical care, including patient education, monitoring medication use, and addressing patient concerns.

• A team-oriented mindset, able to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

• Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pharmacology, medication guidelines, and healthcare technology.

• Excellent organizational abilities to manage workflow efficiently, handle multiple prescriptions, and maintain accurate records and inventory.

• Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and online prescription management platforms.

Mandatory Requirements and Qualifications:
• A valid QHCP (Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners) license issued by the relevant licensing authority.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a healthcare or retail pharmacy setting.
