Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Transport Planner / Modeler to join our team! In this role you will get to lead transformative transport planning and modeling projects, delivering innovative solutions and enhancing transportation systems.
What You'll be Doing:
- Preparation of traffic study reports and impact analysis reports for various road and development projects.
- Conducting Traffic Studies for major roads infrastructure projects involving transportation demand modeling, traffic operations analysis, and public transit planning based on MOTC-LTPD guidelines and procedures for transport studies
- Update Transport Models and development of conceptual road designs, performs conventional and complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.
- Carrying out demand forecasting and transport model analysis required to assist with the traffic impact studies.
- Work closely with related teams and develop traffic congestion management plans by providing data and technical support as needed
- Performing microsimulation modelling analysis for road intersections corridors, bus facilities and development sites.
- Preparation and coordination for data collection tasks required for traffic studies including traffic counts surveys.
- Provides input and technical guidance to traffic engineers and CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers working on the same project.
- Advise clients and team on transportation and traffic solutions, including supporting concept design transportation improvement layouts.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Degree in Civil / Transportation engineering from a recognized institution
- Minimum 17 years’ experience in traffic operations and analysis of various traffic transportation projects preferably in Gulf region.
- A strong understanding of transport modelling, demand forecast and multi-modal methodologies.
- Must have in-depth experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operational Analysis.
- Must have thorough working knowledge with traffic analysis tools such as SYNCHRO, VISUM, VISSIM, HCS and other traffic engineering – modeling software.
- Must have experience in parking management, parking demand and supply, parking design within buildings, traffic circulations, determining the number of accesses/egresses.
- Familiar with Qatar local standards such as QHDM and QTCM, and MOT-LTPD guidelines and procedures for transport studies.
- This position requires a self-motivated individual who possesses the ability to successfully complete transport planning and traffic engineering assignments and solve complex traffic operational issues.
- The Transport Planner at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures.
- Excellent report writing skills, preparation of presentations. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
