Our newest opportunity is for a talented Translator, seconded to our Client from government sector in Doha, Qatar.
We envisage success in this role to include;
- Reading through or listening to material in one language, ascertaining understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into Arabic language, making sure to preserve the original meaning – focus area: English to Arabic and Arabic to English.
- Consulting with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specific terminology/concepts and translate them appropriately.
- Following up with clients to ensure satisfaction and understanding.
- Reading and converting materials from one language into another (English/Arabic) by creating a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original in different domains, including media, legal, and engineering materials.
- Liaising with client to check original texts or confer with authors to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material.
- Editing and proofread materials to accurately reflect language.
- Participating in workshops, training and meetings with client to facilitate understanding of participants by translating chairperson written and spoken language
- Checking translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions.
- Listening to speakers' statements in order to determine meanings and to prepare translations. Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials.
- Facilitating effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.
- Translating messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages (English/Arabic), orally, maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible.
- Identifying and resolving conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors.
- Compiling information and terminology about the content and context of information to be translated, as well as details of the groups for whom translation or interpretation is being performed.
- Employ computer-assisted translation and use dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks as needed to ensure translation accuracy.
- Adhering to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures in the workplace and comply to any new work instructions.
- Uses highly specialized translation software available to encourage efficiency and consistency.
- Adheres to client quality standards established by the Association of Translation Companies to ensure that all completed work follows legal and ethical obligations.
- Translates a variety of documents including literary, legal, research, technical, educational, and commercial materials.
- Adhering to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures in the workplace and comply to any new work instructions.
- Conducting/organizing training of Arabic language to non-Arabic speaking personnel in the department.
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 6+ years of relevant experience partnered with a Bachelor Degree or higher level qualification in relevant subject. Should be fluent in Arabic and proficient in English.
- Minimum of 6 years’ work experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of Arabic – speaking, reading and writing.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages and in particular Microsoft Excel 2010.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is essential.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is compulsory.
- Had perform/conduct training to non-Arabic speaking personnel is compulsory.
