Flight Software Developer
DEIMOS is selecting engineers for its Flight Software division, forming part of the Avionics Business Unit at our Bucharest premises.
The work of the FSW division is oriented to the specification, design, development and validation of Embedded Software and Hardware systems for space vehicles, including GNC systems, GNSS, Image processing, verification facilities, etc.
As a member of the Avionics Business Unit, you will work in a team of other highly skilled engineers across Europe (Spain, Portugal, UK, Romania), working on projects covering applications such as:

• Satellite rendezvous, in-orbit servicing (IOS) and active debris removal (ADR)
• Entry, descent, and landing on planets (Earth, Mars) & natural satellites
• Launch vehicles
• Earth observation, upstream (flight segment) and downstream
• Interplanetary exploration and navigation
• Unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs, UGVs)
• System and mission design

The selected candidates shall be integrated into an international team of highly qualified engineers and exceptional human quality. Likewise, Deimos’ transnational condition, could allow the candidate international mobility, developing his work from any of the company headquarters.

Main Duties:

The following responsibilities are envisioned:

• Participation in the entire lifecycle of the development of embedded onboard SW, including communications among different on-board sub-systems and implementation on different target hardware platforms of algorithms such as AOCS, real-time image processing and artificial intelligence solutions.
• Generic Design and implementation of Software and/or Firmware.
• Participation in the Software and System validation and system qualification.
• Interaction with other different technical areas inside the Company, including areas such as Computer Vision, Functional Avionics, GNC, GNSS, etc.

Education:

Required: A recognized bachelor’s degree or Certificate of Higher Education (Computer Sciences, Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications) with demonstrable experience in computer systems and software engineering.

Professional Experience:

Appreciated: Professional experience with 2-5 years in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post.
The position will be tailored to the level of experience. Industrial experience in the aerospace sector and/or critical software development will be viewed positively.

Technical Requirements:

Required: The following capabilities are required for the position:

• Excellent programming skills (C, C++, Python) and knowledge of software configuration control (GIT, SVN).
• Willingness to participate in Software Development along all the project phases and generation of project documentation associated to applicable development standards.

Appreciated: Experience in any of the following would be viewed positively:

• Experience with Software systems for embedded Hardware control, communication interfaces (e.g. RS422, CAN bus, etc.), Boot Software, etc.
• SW and Systems design documentation methodologies and tools: UML, Sys ML.
• Knowledge of SW Coding Standards (MISRA-C).
• Experience in design and development of real time and safety critical Software systems for the space or aeronautics industry, following applicable software development standards (e.g. ECSS, DO178).
• Knowledge of real-time multithreaded systems, real-time operating system (RTEMS, Vx Works, Free RTOS, etc.), embedded computer architectures (LEON, ARM, Power PC, etc.).
• Background in FPGA Engineering, including testing and verification.
• Knowledge of implementation techniques for Image Processing or Neural Networks in target HW (e.g. Nvidia GPU, Myriad VPU, Xilinx FPGA/So C/MPSo C), and associated development tools (Open CV, CUDA, Vivado, Vitis, Tensor Flow…).
• Experience on Software verification and validation, use of system test benches (EGSE/SCOE), test specification and test definition.
• Dev Ops infrastructure: Continuous integration strategies and tools (e.g. Jenkins).

Language Skills:

English (Native or High level, spoken and written). Appreciated: Spanish.
