Site Safety Officer (Freelance)

Our mission is to accelerate the reduction in Europe’s reliance on fossil fuels, and we have already established a portfolio of onshore wind and solar projects, with our first solar park expected to export power by the end of this year. To have the biggest impact, we target markets that are underserved by capital and renewable expertise, by a team with long history in successful development and construction of major renewable projects.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Safety Officer to oversee and coordinate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities for contractors involved in the construction of a renewable solar energy development in Romania. This position is a fixed-term contract role. The Site Safety Officer will ensure that all contractors comply with the client’s HSE requirements, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
What you will do:
- HSE Coordination: Coordinate and monitor all HSE activities of contractors on-site to ensure compliance with the client’s HSE policies and procedures.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure that all contractors adhere to local and international HSE regulations and standards.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Training and Induction: Provide HSE training and induction programs for all contractors and new employees to ensure awareness and understanding of safety protocols.
- Incident Management: Investigate and report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Safety Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and training sessions. Prepare and submit regular HSE reports to the project management team.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all HSE-related matters on-site, facilitating effective communication between contractors and the client.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction or renewable energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits.
- Certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English and Romanian.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
