Job Description

The Dean's Office, Faculty of Science (Fo S), is looking for a grants and research resource manager. The role supports the Vice-Dean (Research & Development) in overseeing the daily operations of the Research Section at the Faculty of Science, working with eight departments. The candidate will manage and oversee the end-to-end process of grant administration dealing with external grant calls, as well as industry partnerships, management of project grant resources in acquisition and capacity building.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following -

• Extract statistics on research bibliometrics and prepare reports for Dean and Vice Deans.
• Prepare, analyse and report statistics on grant application and success rates.
• Assist with strategy development on grant application.
• Provide leadership to the support staff in the Research Section.
• Enhance research collaborations between Fo S faculty members with their colleagues from other faculties/ schools.
• Improve the awareness of Fo S research through various publicity platforms.
• Facilitate faculty members’ familiarisation with the university guidelines, work processes and resources, particularly new faculty members so that they can more quickly integrate into the community.
• Enhance grantsmanship of faculty members for large grant acquisition.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sciences, engineering or their equivalent from a reputable university.
• Have at least five to eight years of work experience in research grant administration in a supervisory/management role.
• Experience in budget management.
• Experience with grant writing and agreements.
• General knowledge of local funding bodies and grant regulations.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
• Excellent command of English and communication skills.
• Strong team player.
