Aon South Africa is recruiting a Financial Manager in our Finance department, based on a hybrid basis from our Head Office in Sandton. The role of the Financial Manager – Operations is to manage internal control and related fiduciary accounting functions for the group and provide effective management of business risks; assist in ensuring client services & finance risks are identified, evaluated, managed, and coordinated into the business strategy.

Monitors & continuously develops Management Information (e.g. activity analysis & dashboards) to effectively manage risk associated with Technical accounting & treasury and formulate & implement required change management to achieve company objectives.
Ensures that processes and measures are in place for monitoring and maintaining standards consistent with Aon Ltd, and local regulatory & statutory requirements.
Collaborate with Finance, Operations & Client service teams to achieve reporting & processes consistency, resolve operational or fiduciary accounting issues.
Oversight of the accurate accounting of company operating and broking systems, including management of general ledger controls and reconciliations relating to technical accounting.
Management of treasury matters relating to fiduciary accounting matters, including monitoring of SARB approvals.
Monthly completion of VAT returns including guidance to business on complex VAT matters.
Contributes to and participates in Aon-wide senior management groups, committees and ad-hoc project teams and other bodies as necessary.

What the day will look like

Skills and experience that will lead to success
Qualifications.- Must have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Must have a bachelor's degree.
- An accounting qualification would be beneficial.
- A comprehensive knowledge of the South African and international short-term insurance markets
- End-to-end understanding of contractual input to financial reporting.
- Excellent project management competencies including a proven track record of successful operational transformation projects
- Excellent ability to develop strong relationships quickly, influence key stakeholders, work cross-functionally and autonomously.
- Ability to organise and manage priorities simultaneously and meet time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Ability to summarize complex solutions/concepts.
- Proficient Excel & data configuration skills (intermediate to advanced) – to be able to utilise data to support recommendations and to drive change initiatives.
- Must be dependable and respects confidentiality.
- Must have a high work ethic and is able to support and contribute in a team setting.
- Must be able to function efficiently while under pressure.
- Must have experience in managing end to end operational functions across the value chain. (end to end billing to cash)
- Experienced in operations, finance, risk management and/or is excellent in a professional services environment such as consultancy, financial services, or insurance.
- 2 to 4 years of managerial experience
- Preferably have experience in the short-term insurance industry
