Job Purpose
The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent Engineer to perform all aspects of varied innovative and complex engineering activities that result in progress in technology and engineering applications.
Minimum Requirements
Engineering Degree (B Eng/ BSC (Eng)); A minimum of 3 years post qualification engineering experience required; Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer; A valid code B or higher driving licence.
Recommendation
Relevant further studies and/or formal training; Exposure to system development and process mapping; Good understanding of linear assets management principles and application; Good understanding and in-practice use of BIM for roads and structures; Proven domain experience in one or more of the following fields: Traffic, Bridges, Pavements, Geometrics, Road Condition Assessments and/or Road Network Analysis.

Design new systems to solve practical engineering challenges and improve efficiency and enhance safety; Ensure training and development of technicians, technologists and candidate engineers to promote skills/knowledge transfer and adherence to sound engineering principles and code of practice; Continuous professional development to keep up with new technologies and procedures.

Remuneration
Grade A: R 833 499 - R 889 158 per annum; Grade B: R 939 024 - R 1 011 597 per annum; Grade C: R 1 068 342 - R 1 254 282 per annum (OSD as prescribed). Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
