Hostess at the Four Seasons Hotel are the first and last point of contact with the guest upon entering/exiting the restaurant. They are the first and last impression the guest will have of the outlet and because of that, are an integral part of guest satisfaction. The Hostess is expected to greet and seat guests while coordinating guest reservations and responding to inquiries in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.

Educations
High school education or equivalent experience

Experience
One to two years of previous experience in Food & Beverage outlet

Key Functions

• Answers telephones according to Four Seasons standards and takes guest reservations or provides information regarding the restaurant or any other hotel service
• Seats guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference
• Carries out set-up of host/hostess stand, reviews guest reservation book, and makes recommendations as to the set-up of the room, maintains a station chart and cover counts for the restaurant while recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server in order to meet Four Seasons Service standards
• Inspects and maintains daily menus to ensure quality, condition and appearance while developing a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials
• Is in charge of profiling guests before service begins in order to enhance guest experience
• Ensures that guest reservations are inputted into the restaurant reservation system in a consistent and uniformed format
• Prepares the VIP highlights for the dinner meal period and have it ready for the team briefing before service begins
• Manages flow of guest arrival in an efficient manner by keeping into account the load factor of each server section
• Ensures that the hostess desk has enough operating supplies and order according to business needs
• Actively promotes our Dining Membership, Taste by Four Seasons
• Completes special projects (menu changes, signage, etc) as instructed
• Ensures proper table set-up and makes minor adjustments as needed
• Anticipates the needs of guests, responds accordingly to guest inquiries or problems, and recognizes regular guests by name and utilizes the guest’s name consistently
• Has the ability to provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts
• Communicates with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met
• Remains calm and alert, especially during emergency situations, heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for the staff and other employees
• Supports the entire Food and Beverage operation, including working in other areas if necessary
• Communicates with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice
• Listens to understand requests, responds with appropriate actions, and provides accurate information
• Complies with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in Em Pact
