With over 200 million global downloads, Welltech’s applications are sold all over the world with a focus on the USA, Europe, Latin America, and is actively entering the Asian markets. We have been profitable since 2018 with overall 100%+ Yo Y revenue growth. There are few if any, pure consumer app companies in existence that are scaling at our pace.

What You’ll Do:
As General Counsel at Welltech, you'll shape our legal strategy and help us stand out in the digital Health & Fitness industry combining legal acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. Reporting directly to the CEO and being part of the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll provide strategic legal counsel to drive profitable growth while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic US-qualified legal professional with a strong background in US & EU D2C regulations, corporate law and governance, privacy, IP, product, marketing & advertising, tech industry, legal department leadership, and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced environment to ensure our strategies are data-driven and effective.
The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running on day 1, excited to roll up their sleeves and dive in while also eager to set the strategic vision, and know how to have fun in the process. They will have a strong executive presence, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-legal stakeholders, and an interest in leading a compact but high-performing legal team.

Why You’ll Be Excited About This Role:

• Lead Legal Strategy: Shape and implement the vision and strategy for our Legal department, ensuring it is aligned with our company mission and business goals.
  
• Risk Management: Develop and oversee Welltech’s risk management program.
  
• Intellectual Property: Manage our IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and content, in partnership with Product & Marketing teams.
  
• Privacy: Work with Product, Marketing, Tech, Payments, and Data teams to safeguard customer data and lead our Privacy Program.
  
• Product & Marketing Compliance: Ensure consumer protection and regulatory compliance are embedded in all product and marketing activities.
  
• Litigation Management: Handle litigation, arbitration and disputes, conducting investigations, coordinating with outside counsel and representing the company as needed.
  
• Corporate Governance: Oversee corporate governance (such as board meetings, corporate filings, corporate approvals, equity management), corporate transactions, manage global subsidiaries and structures in ~10 different countries, and ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  
• Contract Management: Manage the entire Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) process.
  
• US IPO Preparation: Prepare and execute the Legal Roadmap for a smooth and compliant IPO process, and develop processes for public company readiness.
  
• Finance: Collaborate with Finance on audits, Work Day implementation, P2P, tax strategy, bank accounts & cash management, and compliance.
  
• People: Collaborate with HR on corporate policies and procedures, global workforce management, benefits and compensation matters, employment regulations, employee lifecycle, handling complex employee relations issues and conducting investigations as needed in a global setup.
  
• Payments: Collaborate with Payments Team to ensure our own payment gateway is providing value to customers in a compliant manner, incl. from privacy & regulatory perspective
  
• Outside Counsel Management: Manage relationships and budgets with outside counsel across all business functions.
  
• Training and Education: Provide legal and compliance training to company staff.
  

We're looking for someone who:

• ‬‭Brings 10+ years of legal experience, including big law and in-house roles‬
  
• ‬‭Proven‬‭ success‬‭ in‬‭ building,‬‭ developing‬‭ and‬‭ leading‬‭ legal‬‭ teams‬‭ for‬‭ public‬‭ or‬‭ pre-IPO‬‭ companies,‬ ideally with $500M+ revenue.‬
  
• ‬‭Excels at managing and inspiring diverse global teams in a collaborative setting.‬
  
• ‬‭Demonstrates expertise in creating efficient scalable legal processes utilising technology.‬

Our legal team at Welltech consists of 11 skilled professionals with backgrounds from top firms. We focus on 3 key areas: Privacy & IP, Product Legal, and Corporate & Commercial Law.
