The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) team is looking for a Grid Delivery Manager to own the delivery of the electrical connections (HV/MV substations, overhead lines and underground cables) from the electricity grid to AWS Data Centres. If you like to leverage your technical understanding of large-scale HV/ MV grid infrastructure projects from design through energisation phase, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help drive the grid infrastructure delivery program, standardize processes, develop tools for delivery executions, support financial budgeting and act as the point of contact between AWS and electricity utilities.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
You will be responsible for coordinating timelines and activity sequencing with construction, real estate, design & engineering, procurement and planning teams across the full lifecycle of delivering power connections to our DCs, including electrical design; materials procurement; securing infrastructure permits, wayleaves & easements; and infrastructure construction, commissioning and testing.

You will lead the engagement with electricity utilities on the delivery of their associated grid works, the securing of electricity grid outages, utility commissioning, the energisation process and the transfer of assets to utility ownership.

You will provide regular reporting on project status, risks, issues, budgetary spend etc. at senior management, director and VP level

You will standardize processes and develop tools to support successful grid infrastructure delivery executions

You will support financial budgeting
