Nuclear Operations Intern - Spain

The Nuclear Operations (Nuc Ops) team at Westinghouse is looking for the best of the next generation of Nuclear Professionals. Nuc Ops is an industry leader for nuclear power plants worldwide with products and services supporting Control Room Operators and Reactor Engineers. Once you join us, you will be working simultaneously on the new generation of reactors like the AP300 SMR and e Vinci microreactor, the new fleet of AP1000® and the operating fleet from all over the world. Building your skills based on actual operating plant experience combined with advanced plant design (AP1000s, SMRs and microreactors) will be a major differentiator and accelerator for your career in the nuclear industry.
Nuc Ops has supported the commissioning of PWRs since the beginning of the commercial nuclear power industry, and our group continues to play a vital role in plant operations today. About 70% of our members have qualified for reactor operator roles and you could be next! Our experience as reactor operators is key to defining and improving how nuclear power plants are run in control rooms worldwide. Your scope will include defining how the next generation of nuclear plants (SMR and microreactors) will be operated and improving the way control room operators run the operating nuclear fleet (integrating operating experience and new scenarios), therefore giving you learning and development opportunities in both worlds.
This position is hybrid requiring 2 days/week minimum on-site at our Westinghouse offices in San Sebastian de Los Reyes near Madrid.
Who You Are:
As an ideal candidate, you'll bring the following qualifications and characteristics to our team:
- Educational Background: Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering. Candidates with a strong interest in nuclear plant operations are highly encouraged to apply.
- Fluent in English: You will be working and collaborating in English, so verbal and writing communication skills in English is crucial.
- Top Performer: Someone who demonstrates excellence and stands apart from your peers. Someone who performs well under pressure.
Desirable Experience in the following technical areas is not required but will be favorably considered:
- Prior Professional Experience: Any previous professional experience, including internships, co-ops, part-time jobs, etc… even outside the nuclear field.
- Reactor Physics and Dynamics: Knowledge or familiarity with reactor physics and dynamics.
- Nuclear Plant Systems: Familiarity with the various nuclear plant systems
- Procedure Writing: Experience in writing engineering or operating procedures.
