We are seeking a strategic and business-driven CFO to join our leadership team. In this role, you will manage Avolt’s financial landscape while navigating the complexities of VAT, taxes, cross-border operations, and legal responsibilities across multiple markets, including the EU, US, Switzerland, Norway, and the UK. This position requires a leader with experience in startups and product companies that produce and sell online, through marketplaces, wholesale, and distribution partners.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a financial expert with significant experience in startups and product companies. You possess strong technical skills and a good understanding of Fortnox and Quick Books to manage accounting across Avolt's entities. You have successfully managed VAT, tax complexities, and cross-border operations while driving growth strategies. Your experience includes overseeing logistics and legal matters in the absence of a dedicated legal department.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

• Financial Leadership & Strategy: Lead financial planning and analysis for both Avolt AB (Sweden) and Avolt Inc. (US), ensuring fiscal health and alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
  
• Accounting Responsibility: Oversee all accounting activities for Avolt AB and Avolt Inc., ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining financial transparency.
• Legal Oversight: Take on legal responsibilities, as Avolt does not have a dedicated legal department, managing contracts, regulatory compliance, and other legal matters.
• Startup & Product Company Expertise: Leverage your experience in product companies that sell online, through marketplaces, wholesale, and to distributors, to align financial and operational strategies with business goals.
• VAT & Tax Expertise: Oversee VAT, tax compliance, and legal regulations across multiple regions (EU, US, Switzerland, Norway, UK), optimizing tax strategies and managing complex cross-border transactions.
• Freight & Import Management: Manage freight from factories and handle all import operations, ensuring efficient and compliant international logistics.
• Sales & Stock Management: Collaborate with sales and purchasing teams to optimize stock planning and ensure sales targets per market are met.
• Cross-functional Leadership: Align financial and operational strategies across departments (e.g., logistics, marketing, and sales) to enhance overall company performance.
• Financial Controls: Ensure robust financial controls and processes are in place, optimizing cash flow and profitability across regions.
• Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Provide financial insights and performance indicators to the CEO, board members, and investors, ensuring informed decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience as a CFO in a startup, with hands-on involvement in financial leadership for a product company that sells online, through marketplaces, wholesale, and distribution.
• Technical proficiency in Fortnox, Quick Books, and tools like Tax Jar for managing accounting and tax compliance effectively across entities.
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Amazon, understanding how to integrate financial operations with these systems to support online sales and marketplace management.
• Expertise in managing complex VAT setups and cross-border financial operations, particularly within the EU, Switzerland, Norway, and the UK.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and legal responsibilities in both parent and subsidiary entities.
• Ability to manage freight and import logistics, ensuring efficient and compliant global operations.
• Strong business acumen with a focus on aligning financial strategies with sales growth and operational efficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills; proficiency in Swedish is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
