The HES-SO University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland, Geneva, is recruiting for the School of
Landscape, Engineering and Architecture (HEPIA) a:

Scientific assistant HES at 80%
Fixed-term appointment of 12 months, renewable

A member of the HES-SO Geneva, the Geneva University of Applied Sciences for Landscape, Engineering and
Architecture (hereinafter HEPIA) has around 350 employees, over 1,100 students, 9 Bachelor's courses, 5
Master's courses and 3 research institutes.

The incumbent's main mission will be to participate in the EU project NETWORK in collaboration with
Professor HES Dr. Eryk Schiller. This project focuses on the critical area of cybersecurity. The NATWORK project
aims to tackle the challenges of adaptability and responsiveness to cyberattacks by developing a bio-inspired, AI-
based 6G cybersecurity framework with low energy consumption. This framework will leverage AI to self-regulate
and adapt to specific circumstances while adhering to service-level agreements.


The candidate will be required:

• Gather and analyze data to improve the self-resilience and flexibility of future 6G network security measures

• Develop, conduct, and perform innovative high-quality research and engineering related to the NATWORK

project’s objectives, specifically in the area of bio-inspired AI-based cybersecurity frameworks for 6G
networks

• Contribute to the design and implementation of AI models that enhance network security in mobile networks

• Contribute to the dissemination of relevant results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences

• Collaborate with project partners to ensure that the framework meets the specified requirements

• Contribute to new project proposals using various instruments, such as SNF, Innosuisse, Horizon Europe

Profile/Skills desired or to be developed:

• Master in computer science, electrical engineering, or any discipline related to network security or mobile

networks

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of network security, particularly in mobile networks, ideally

demonstrated by a relevant track record of publications and research projects

• Proficiency in developing AI models for network security applications

• Experience with FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays) technology is strongly desirable

• Skills in programming, particularly in Python, C++, or VHDL/Verilog

• Efficiency, sense of organization, rigor, initiative, and ability to work independently

• Fluency in English, both in spoken and written form; knowledge of French is advantageous

• The HES or artistic scientific assistant is engaged for a fixed, renewable period, corresponding to the duration

of the project(s) or missions entrusted
