We are looking for an experienced full-time Senior R&D Engineer/Product Manager focusing on energy storage systems (f/m/d) to join our team asap located in Switzerland or Germany and help drive the future of energy storage solutions. In your role, you will lead the integration and deployment of sodium-ion battery systems for (large-scale) installations in Germany/Europe. Additionally, you will support new customer projects by providing technical expertise, customizing sodium-ion battery solutions to ensure successful project implementation.

Your tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead the development and innovation of battery systems, including high-voltage, Sodium-ion, and other electrochemical storage technologies for both grid and traction battery applications
• Design and model battery systems, focusing on electrical, thermal, and safety aspects such as thermal and performance evaluations
• Develop and prototype energy storage solutions for diverse applications, including microgrids, electric mobility and stationary energy systems
• Manage and coordinate projects involving battery system design, integration, and testing, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, R&D, and external stakeholders to bring innovative products to market
• Mentor and lead junior engineers and interns in their technical and professional growth

Must have's

• Ph D or master's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field with a focus on energy storage, power electronics, or renewable energy systems
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the development of battery systems, power electronics, or renewable energy solutions, with a track record of managing successful R&D projects
• Strong expertise in lithium-ion, supercapacitors, or hybrid energy storage systems, with a deep understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of battery technology
• Proficiency in software and tools such as Matlab, Simulink, Altium, Autodesk Eagle, and other relevant simulation and design tools
• Proven experience in leading project teams, developing new business opportunities, and managing complex technical projects from concept to market introduction
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English; Experience working with international teams and willingness to travel

Nice to have's

• Knowledge of PV systems and renewable energy integration
• Experience working in industries such as automotive, industrial electronics, or grid storage
• Familiarity with standards and regulatory frameworks related to battery systems and high-voltage systems
• Experience with project management in collaboration with research institutions and industry partners
• German, Italian, or French language skills

Location: Switzerland or Germany - if not on-site in our office in Technopark Luzern, then occasional
Travel Readiness: 20-40%, mostly Switzerland & Germany
