What will you do
The Senior Director of Procurement Chemicals and APIs is a senior procurement leadership role responsible for managing Kenvue’s USD 1Bn of 3rd party spend across our chemicals and API suppliers.
The procurement leader for this area will play a pivotal role in understanding commercial, Operations and R&D focus areas and will develop suitable procurement category management and sourcing strategies aimed to deliver year on year productivity improvements, innovation, resilience and sustainability across Kenvue’s portfolio of materials.
He or she will be closely partnering with R&D, Operations (including quality) and Brand Development Teams at segment, brand and regional level to drive external innovation, unlock productivity and efficiencies while supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects, delivery against Kenvue’s sustainability goals and increasing product resilience.
He or she will be a member of Kenvue Procurement Leadership team and will lead this spend area with the following objectives in mind:
  • Influence R&D, Commercial and Operations leaders on the choices of materials to manufacture Kenvue’s product portfolio across Essentials, Skincare and Selfcare segments.
  • Define the optimal supplier base for our current product portfolio and together with R&D define the core list of suppliers to disrupt Kenvue’s product innovation pipeline.
  • Deliver industry leading Terms & Conditions and ways of working with suppliers to drive year on year productivity improvements. Define the optimum commercial frameworks and models for the portfolio of materials at hand.
  • Capture additional cost optimization opportunities through the implementation of operational excellence and continuous improvement programs with our chemical and APIs suppliers.
  • Impact Kenvue’s Sales, Innovation, Gross Profit, and Cashflow targets through material and supplier choices integrating resilience, regulatory and sustainability needs to deliver Kenvue’s sustainability, risk and resiliency commitments.
  • Improve supplier qualification and validation cycle times in partnership with quality.
  • Work end to end with Plan, Make and Deliver teams to improve supplier replenishment lead times and inventory positions to contribute to Kenvue working capital goals.
  • Identify risks to operating plans and develop appropriate mitigation approaches
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the strategic category vision for chemicals and APIs to support the company's short and long-term goals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that align with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to improve supply chain resilience, agility, sustainability, cost-effectiveness and inventory through category management, strategic sourcing and supplier development.
  • Supplier Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts, agreements, and terms with suppliers to ensure best in industry terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including quality, delivery, cost, and compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, engineering, quality, and supply chain operations, to ensure seamless end to end integration and ways of working with suppliers
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize end to end processes and supplier performance.
  • Manage metrics the performance of chemical suppliers.
  • Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the Yo Y spend of chemicals and APIs portfolio.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to achieve industry leading COGS targets.
  • Ensure financial objectives (cost and cash) are met and by taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with chemicals and APIs suppliers, including supply chain disruptions, regulatory compliance, and quality issues.
  • Develop contingency plans and strategies to ensure business continuity in case of supply chain disruptions.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead a high-performing team of procurement professionals.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the procurement and across R&D, Operations and Commercial teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing chemicals and/or APIs portfolios
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of industry dynamics, market trends, and best practices.
  • Experience in managing budgets, financial analysis, and cost management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Expert leader with a proven track record of building and managing high performing teams, developing relationships and managing internal stakeholders effectively. Ability to build trust both internal and externally
