Guided by the contemporary plans of action and platforms agreed upon by the United Nations and its Member States, the work of UNITAR in designing and delivering people-centered and results-driven products and services is structured along the four key dimensions of Peace, People, Planet and Prosperity with additional units ensuring organization-wide cross-fertilization of knowledge. Such compositions make UNITAR exceptionally fit for the purpose of supporting the indivisible and integrated nature of the 2030 Agenda.
General Objectives of the Contract:
The objective is to support the collection, verification, and input of data into the United Nations System-wide Action Plan (UN-SWAP) platform. Under the guidance and supervision of Gender Focal Points, the trainee will be responsible for accurately coordinating and inputting data related to gender equality and women’s empowerment within the UN system. This role requires close collaboration with the gender focal points to ensure all data submissions are complete, accurate, and aligned with the UN-SWAP framework, thereby contributing to the accountability and monitoring of gender mainstreaming efforts across the organization.
Responsibilities/Description of Professional Services:
The trainee will provide support though the following activities:
  • Collect and organize relevant data for input into the UN-SWAP platform, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Input and update data in the UN-SWAP platform, adhering to established guidelines and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with gender focal points to ensure data alignment with UN-SWAP standards and requirements.
  • Prepare and present the revised data report to the gender focal points for review and approval.
  • Coordinate responses to feedback provided by the UN Women team, incorporating necessary revisions and ensuring compliance with feedback directives.
  • Maintain clear communication with the gender focal points and UN Women team, providing regular updates on data collection and reporting progress.
  • Support other related tasks as requested by the gender focal points, contributing to the successful implementation of gender mainstreaming objectives within the organization
Learning Objectives:
Throughout the course of this contract, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, and input processes within the context of UN-SWAP, thereby developing a practical understanding of gender mainstreaming within the UN system. The trainee will enhance their skills in data accuracy, report preparation, and collaborative coordination with key stakeholders, particularly in responding to feedback and ensuring data integrity. Additionally, the trainee will gain valuable insights into the processes and standards associated with UN accountability frameworks for gender equality, equipping them with the competencies needed to contribute to future gender-focused initiatives within international organizations.
