We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of MRO and Special Projects to join our senior leadership team. This pivotal role involves ensuring the successful management and delivery of all maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities and special projects across the business.
Primary Tasks
Main tasks will include but are not limited to:
  • Assuring that all projects and MRO activities are managed and delivered across the business on time within budget.
  • Working with the Business Development, Commercial and Technical/Engineering teams to set up new channels / streams of business whilst maintaining current outputs.
  • Assume the role of Base Maintenance Manager and hold a CAA Form 4.
  • Line manage the MRO and Special Projects team, ensuring on-time delivery of company projects to contracted terms and conditions.
  • Line management and support of the PART-CAMO department's Continued Airworthiness Manager.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships, ensuring routine reporting and communication standards are upheld.
  • To ensure group targets (including monthly financial targets) are met and deficiencies in performance are reported back to the Senior Management Team.
  • To provide input to bids assuring awarded orders can be executed accordingly.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to along with management of health and safety and CAA approval compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in service provision, focusing on output turnaround time and productivity.
  • Provide MRO, special projects, and upgrade services under Part 145, Part CAMO, and Part 147 to meet company targets and objectives.
  • Plan and oversee the end-to-end supply chain for maintenance and modification activities, including resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Create and maintain a master schedule of key projects, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and delivery dates are forecasted accurately.
  • Chair weekly Project Review meetings and provide regular status reports on project progress.
  • Responsible for providing reporting to the senior management and financial teams on the status and performance of delivery programmes.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with CAA, EASA, FAA, and other relevant standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop plans to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, data protection laws, and safety management systems.
  • Act as the nominated person and Form 4 holder for the business area.

  • Working knowledge of EASA/FAA/BCAR/OTAR regulatory requirements

Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Project Management qualification, further education in Project Management or Business
  • UK/EASA/FAA licensed engineer
  • Professional aerospace engineering qualification
Required Experience
  • Aviation engineering, maintenance modification and support Industry.
  • Previous Form 4 nominated post holder (desirable)
  • Considerable in project management/delivery.
  • Demonstrable /Management experience
  • Proven experience within an industry similar position with emphasis on high value international contracts in a manufacturing/aerospace or engineering environment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office including MS Project or equivalent
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance.
