Job Description
As part of our Management Consulting Division, we offer cutting-edge software to selected energy companies. In particular, we are world-leaders in power market software, with our model BID3 used by transmission operators across Europe, utilities such as Drax and the UK government. BID3 is an electricity market model that uses advanced mathematical techniques to model the dispatch of power stations, market prices, capacity evolution, and all other important features of power markets.
We are looking for someone to join our expanding team of developers, with a focus on coding the BID3 market model, but also developing a range of other models that explore the net-zero future in gas, carbon and transport.
This role is primarily a software development role, but also, we offer the opportunity to get involved in consultancy assignments in the exciting energy sphere. We have a very international team in Oxford and work closely with our teams in other countries across the world which will enrich your experience.

- We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, including statistics, and the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently.
- Due to the modelling requirement of the role you should have some previous experience writing optimisation problems in an algebraic modelling language such as mosel, GAMS or AMPL.
- You will have knowledge of C#.net or similar language. The successful applicant will combine exceptional problem solving and technical capability with a passion to deliver great solutions for our users.
- Virtually all the work we do requires team working so if you have effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit in well.
