Main Purpose
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team as an Engineering Technician at the 48th Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide programming and base development technical engineering support performing the more difficult and complex tasks for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects of real property facilities including utility systems at RAF's Lakenheath & Feltwell. The successful applicant will evaluate and recommend for approval clients' requests for new construction, renovation, and improvements of real property facilities including utility systems, and coordinate projects with engineers in a variety of disciplines and/or with architects. In addition, they will work with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering/architectural authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed facility programs/projects.

Knowledge and Experience Required - Applicants must demonstrate the following:
· General and practical knowledge of engineering concepts, methods, principles, practices, and techniques; familiarity with engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, utilities, etc),
· Knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control, and budget systems; work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds; automated data processing system capabilities and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
· Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
· Knowledge of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements to identify project requirements.
· Ability to plan and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
· Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
Other Significant Facts Pertaining to the Position
· Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station
· The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Must possess a Category B driver's license.
Other Important Information
· Hours of work: Between 0800-1630. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
· Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
· Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
· May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
· Position may be coded as mission essential.
· A 6-month probationary period will be required.
· May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
· May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
