Enhanced Recovery Clinical Nurse Specialist Gynaecology-Breast Surgery

The Gynaecology and Breast team at UCLH is seeking an experienced surgical nurse to join the enhanced recovery after surgery team. The Enhanced Recovery Clinical Nurse Specialist post is a 1-year secondment (maternity leave cover), full-time band 7. All flexible working requests are considered.

Enhanced recovery is an evidence based clinical service to improve patient experience, clinical effectiveness, and clinical outcome. The Enhanced Recovery team provide care and treatment for elective surgical patients in preoperative, day case, in patient and post discharge settings.

We are looking for a confident, autonomous practitioner who enjoys working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. With experience in quality improvement and service development. Elective surgery experience and IT skills are essential for the role; you will be delivering and evaluating; preoperative patient education groups, inpatient post operative patient care and staff education, and post discharge telephone follow up clinics and patient advice line.

Able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, provide support and direction to the nursing team

Line manage junior members of the nursing team

Work directly with patients and ward and outpatient nursing teams

Ensuring safe, kind and compassionate care for our patients

Dealing with patient queries arising throughout the day in the department and liaising with medical teams and appropriate escalation

Demonstrating good communication skills with colleagues, patients and carers

Being open to change in the department and learning new skills as needed

Demonstrating teamwork by being flexible and building good working relationships with colleagues

Working collaboratively to improve pathways

Ensuring education and competency of the nursing team.
