Clinical Research Nurse

The Rheumatology Research Department works on a portfolio of UCLH sponsored and hosted studies. We recruit to studies for adult and adolescent patients with inflammatory conditions. You will be supported to develop your clinical research nursing skills to recruit participants to rheumatology research projects following Good Clinical Practice and data protection guidelines, as well as national and local standard operating procedures.
Current studies include interventional trials of medicinal products (Phase I to IV) and observational projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with clinicians and academics in a close-knit team of research nurses and coordinators. They will be expected to develop their clinical skills and knowledge to support participants with study participation.
This is a varied role suitable for a highly proficient person with great communication skills who enjoys working across multiple projects in a collaborative manner. Candidates should be proficient computer users and have an interest in clinical research and rheumatology.
The successful candidate will work according to Good Clinical Practice, relevant professional standards and guidelines to recruit to and manage a portfolio of clinical research studies.
Act as a patient advocate, promote wellbeing needs and support patients through their clinical research journey.
Assist with patient recruitment, screening and conducting study visits for research participants, including patient assessment, data collection sample collection (including phlebotomy) and sample processing, monitoring of adverse reactions and compliance.
Assist with day to day coordination of clinical trials and studies, including management of study documents, data collection and study consumables.
Ensure study protocols and procedures are adhered to in accordance with local practice and GCP guidelines.
Be proactive in establishing personal development needs and attend training courses.
Contribute to organisation of department and creation of standard operating procedures.
Be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing with colleagues and patients.
Effectively manage own workload, use effective decision-making skills and evaluate the process and results.
Liaise with external key stakeholders where appropriate.
Assist with study set and management of designated studies.
Participate in quality improvement projects and audit, contribute to conference posters and publications as required.
