About the Department & Team:
- The Expenses Management Team is responsible for initiating, agreeing and delivering the expenses strategy to support the delivery of Liberty Specialty Markets’ overall business strategy and objectives.
- This will include the delivery of first-class advisory, planning, reporting, compliance and any technical/training services across all areas of expense.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Partnering
- Assisting in the preparation of the LII (Liberty International Insurance) Expense Planning process, meeting with stakeholders to discuss the annual plan, completing and reviewing detailed versions of the plan.
- Ensure strategic alignment between the Operating Model Expense Plan and the Business Model Revenue Plan.
- Partnering with the Support functions to ensure alignment of Investment Spend to the broader LSM strategy.
- Partnering with the Underwriting & Reinsurance Finance Business Partners to ensure greater understanding of the expense base.
- Posting and reviewing relevant month end entries for LII.
- Establish key stakeholder relationships and identify appropriate methods of working and communication channels.
- Create and maintain effective structures to ensure alignment with broader Finance Performance team.
- Preparation of expense plan information in the relevant entity’s financial statements, liaising with other finance teams as necessary

Headcount
- Ownership and delivery of the monthly head count reporting process.
- Tracking and approving role requisitions within the agreed timeframes.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience, ideally gained within the insurance industry although candidates from practice will be considered.
- Experience across all key main areas of expenses.
- Track record in delivering high quality support on key issues in a complex business.
- Experience of leading key stakeholder relationships.
- Capable both of strategic thinking as well as practical hands-on financial process and analysis
- Strong organisational skills with a real desire to deliver a first-class service supported by a continuous improvement philosophy towards systems and processes.
- Able to communicate (written and verbal) on a professional/technical level with peers, external advisors and stakeholders as well as ability to simplify complex issues for non-financial colleagues.
- Strong Excel skills.
