We are looking for a Financial Accountant to be part of our Finance team. The role is split into two main areas; providing accounting and analytical support to the Head of Finance and also supporting the owners of the overhead functions.

You will be required to support the Head of Finance to rigorously manage the balance sheet, working capital, the processes and controls and to ensure that the group is compliant with all appropriate legislation including VAT, WHT, corporation tax and transfer pricing.

This role will have strong links to the business heads looking after the support functions Finance, Legal, HR and Facilities.

This is a 4 month fixed term position, with the possibility to extend to 6 months. This role will be hybrid based in the London office, working on exciting, award-winning brands like Sky HISTORY and Crime+Investigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly management results, including updating the month-end model
  • Ownership of the trial balance; including preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Preparing and processing of the month end journals and reports
  • Prepare the variance analysis and commentary for cost areas and work with budget holders to understand their results
  • Review the T&E report to assist discussion with management
  • Approval of T&E reports in Concur to ensure compliance with T&E policy
  • Manage recharges, including invoicing of costs to wider group entities on a regular basis, ensuring the recharge control accounts are regularly reconciled with issues followed up and cleared
  • Preparation of the weekly cashflow
  • Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and yearly ONS returns
  • Preparation of the UK VAT return
  • Support the Head of Finance with the completion of the audit field work
  • Assist with the first draft of the consolidated annual financial statements
  • Prepare the supporting documentation and assist with calculations for the corporation tax computation
  • Prepare the first draft of the annual calculation of PSA payment ready for review
  • Support the financial planning process: budgets, quarterly forecasts & 5 year plan
  • When appropriate, assist other members of the team with the approval and processing of supplier invoices relating to Finance
  • Assist in identifying, developing and implementing process and systems improvements
  • Ad-hoc support for Head of Finance where required
Person Specification
  • Excellent communication skills (both face to face and written); ability to communicate effectively with non-financial colleagues
  • Excellent time management skills; to confidently manage conflicting priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Confident at working autonomously and proactively
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Part qualified ACCA, ACA or internationally recognised financial/accounting qualification
  • Competent use of ERP financial systems, such as SAP, BPC, Concur
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables and look ups are essential)
  • Excellent understanding and application of month end close and reporting
  • Experience of working in a multicurrency reporting environment
  • Proven experience in management of external audit
  • Experience in financial statement compilation
  • Understanding of accounting principles and applying that in practise – including knowledge of debits, credits, prepayments, accruals and commitments
  • Highly numerate with demonstrable problem-solving skills to provide accurate, timely and relevant information to add value
  • Ability to provide additional information when necessary before it is requested
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to review and interrogate information prepared by others
