This will include provision of guidance on technology development and deployment.
- The role as the Materials & Corrosion (M&C) engineer in the UK Upstream is part of the Materials, Corrosion and Inspection Team
- Working with the Facility Manager and Engineering Lead to deliver Materials and Corrosion support and compliance to Shell Asset management standards, utilising the Corrosion modelling and Inspection Management Tools
- Working with the Technical Authorities to deliver the Materials and Corrosion assurance program and compliance with Shell Asset management standards
What’s the role?
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the UK Upstream business with direction and guidance on Corrosion Management and Assurance
- Manage the Materials and Corrosion processes in line with the requirements of standards and Recommended Practices
- Ensure Materials and Corrosion related integrity status of the facility is maintained and demonstrable at all times
- Materials and Corrosion interface with remote support teams on outsourced deliverables
HSSE
- Visibly demonstrate Safety Leadership and set clear expectations for Materials and Corrosion related activities
- Support the facilities in developing and delivering Materials and Corrosion related parts of the HSSE plans (including Green House Gas Management)
- Support the UK Upstream facilities with materials related failure investigations
- Provide Materials and Corrosion support for COMAH/SCR revisions and HSEx engagements
Leadership
- Role model the HSSE behaviors and the Leadership Framework with a Learner’s mindset focus in the Materials, Corrosion and Inspection Team with a strong personal commitment and visible leadership in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Support standardisation and simplification in the Materials, Corrosion and Inspection Team and the enablers required for the Materials and Corrosion discipline to draw maximum benefits
Technical Assurance
- Development competence as Technical Authority in Materials and Corrosion capability and implementation
- Support Facility Management of Change with Materials and Corrosion discipline expertise
- Support facilities through audits
What we need from you
- Technical/Engineering Degree in a Materials and Corrosion related subject, or a discipline related to Pressure Equipment Integrity and Materials and Corrosion
- Proven experience in Materials, Corrosion and Inspection role related to plant and equipment in Hydrocarbon production or process industry
- Strong and visible Safety Leadership behaviors
- Demonstrated track record of collaborative behaviors and strong influencing skills in delivering integrity management
- Skill in Degradation Mechanisms and Corrosion Control Systems, including Chemical Inhibition and use of Corrosion modelling tools
- Skill in Materials Failure investigation
- Knowledge in Integrity and repair assessment.
- Knowledge in Oil and Gas Upstream and Subsea Materials Selection
- Knowledge in welding, and QA/QC for Fabrication and Repairs
- Knowledge in Risk Based Inspection
- High level of personal integrity and courage to stand up for personal convictions and deliver enterprise first outcomes
- Good communications skills
