Role Overview
The role will encompass the production planning of workflow, from order release to production, through to completion of items. Liaison with other departments in particular Sales and Contracts will be essential to ensure orders are raised with correct lead time in regard to capacity and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:

§
Lead, manage and develop Planning and Stores team to high performance.

§
Accountable for delivering the overall Operations Plan & Master Production Schedule to meet Sales orderbook requirements.

§
Oversee the production of finished goods (make to stock) and Sales Orders (make to order) and appropriate schedules for work over short-, medium- and long-term planning horizons, integrating resource planning, materials, estimating and forecasting.

§
Set and operate planning, stores and raw materials policies, systems, SOPs and frameworks in line with business unit needs, ensuring all direct reports understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.

§
Accountable for manufacture parts & WIP stocking policy, controls and regular perpetual inventory count together with the annual stock check.

§
Ensure timely delivery of production job packs to production team.

§
Maintain accurate reporting of late deliveries, identify the root causes, and put corrective actions in place to eliminate the causes of late deliveries.

§
Report any capability or capacity constraints to allow for priority production decisions to be made.

§
Perform and engage with the cross functional team (Production Engineering, Purchasing, Materials Management, Production, Test, Sales, Repairs), and provide production planning leadership as required.

§
Complete month end analysis of Operations/Planning performance and issue reports / KPI’s as required.

§
Accountable to organise and deliver QF orderbook report to senior leadership.

§
Lead and facilitate Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process/meeting.

§
Gather all the data in preparation for S&OP meeting.

§
Process tasks using planning tools eg MRP, ERP, Preactor or any other that the Company installs to ensure deliveries are met.

§
Work with cross functional teams making recommendations and taking decisions on make vs buy.

§
Be committed to reducing our lead times and be active in initiatives that do this.

§
Monitor progress of items associated with designated order lines to assure material will meet customer delivery requirements.

§
Keep material availability dates on all assigned orders accurate and realistic to ensure proper planning and execution.

§
Create an accurate, up to date lead time for each of the manufacturing processes, together with a system for communicating this to the S&OP and sales teams.

§
Work closely with other departments in particular Purchasing, Manufacturing, QA, and Sales.

§
Accountable for production scheduling data being accurate, maintained and can be quickly and efficiently modified.

§
Provide leadership and development opportunities to the team through coaching and motivating and goal setting to ensure performance objectives are met.

§
Ensure Health and Safety and wellbeing of all direct reports is managed.

§
Authorise holidays and other types of absences, adhering to Company policy.

§
Undertake appraisals and performance reviews as and when required; highlighting training and development needs and ensuring these are met.

§
Take responsibility for full and comprehensive induction of all new personnel before they commence work, completing probationary reviews in accordance with Company policy.

§
Responsible for adequate training levels within the Team to achieve a flexible work force, able to cover absenteeism and changing business needs maintaining competence skills matrix.

§
Manage employee absence ensuring Return to Work interviews are conducted within 24 hours of return; raising concerns to line manager and/or HR Manager where appropriate in accordance with Company policy.

§
Manage grievances and/or disciplinaries to Stage One.

§
Lead by example role modelling the IMI Behaviours.

§
Manage underperforming employees by setting targets and deadlines and follow through in accordance with Company policy.

§

Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.

Minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent qualification or experience.

Extensive production planning and master scheduling background within an engineering manufacturing environment.

§

Able to demonstrate a positive attitude and work calmly under pressure.

Able to demonstrate a desire to succeed, with the ability to work as part of a team or independently.

Numerate and IT literate with an excellent working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft packages in order to compile and analyse performance statistics and deliver reports.

§
Demonstrable track record within a production and planning team with experience and knowledge MRP/ERP tools and systems.

§
Able to use own initiative to problem-solve and avoid further escalation.

§
Methodical, organised and neat in the execution of work.

§
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and target focussed.
