The Role:
As Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting our staff to deliver high-quality care to our residents. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people while honing your leadership skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home meets all regulatory requirements and that our young people receive the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Management: Lead and inspire a team of Support Workers to deliver exceptional care, ensuring the safety, well-being, and personal development of each young person.
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring all practices align with our commitment to the safety and welfare of the young people in our care.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all regulatory requirements are met and that care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments are current and accurately reflect each young person’s needs.
  • Staff Development: Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Innovative Care: Engage in a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities, both within the home and the wider community, to promote the social, emotional, and physical well-being of our residents.
  • Operational Management: Assist in the day-to-day operations, including rota management, budget oversight, and stepping in as manager when the Registered Manager is absent.
  • On-call Duties: Participate in a rostered on-call system, offering support and guidance outside regular working hours.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential:
  • Minimum of a Level 3 diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards a Level 5 diploma.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a residential childcare setting.
  • Experience in a supervisory role, ideally as a senior support worker.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted Requirements.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in managing budgets and staff rotas.
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Schedule:
The work schedule is rota-based, primarily covering weekdays, with one weekend day required every two weeks and the third weekend fully off. You will also participate in an on-call rota, providing support outside of regular working hours.
Experience:
  • Deputy Manager: 1 year (preferred)
  • Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
  • Level 3 Qualification in childcare (preferred)
  • Driving Licence (preferred)
