Job title : Quality Assurance Engineer (Systems) – Band 2Department : Quality Assurance
Responsible to : Quality Assurance Team Leader
Status: Full Time Permanent
Normal Hours of Work: 37 hours per week. With additional hours as required to maintain the efficient running of the department.
Location: IMI Thompson Valves Ltd, Poole, UK. Office based.
Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Engineer (Systems) – Band 2 supports the Quality Assurance team to ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation, standards, and customer specifications. The Quality Assurance Engineer (Systems) – Band 2 will support key projects in working to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) across the business.The post holder will also investigate and identify the root cause of quality problems, by adopting a systematic approach to problem solving and implementing robust corrective actions.
Control Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and other Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) related activities play a significant part in this role.
Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:Ü
Support the Quality Assurance Team with continuous improvement activities to reduce the cost of poor quality.
Ü
Be involved in investigations into issues raised by the shop floor ensuring a clear root cause has been identified and effective corrective actions are implemented by using effective problem-solving tools such as 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa and 5 Whys.
Ü
Create and manage high value customer documentation packs which require approval by the high value customer prior to product shipment.
Ü
Support the Quality department in the on-going upkeep and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS) to maintain compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and other subscribed requirements.
Ü
Increase IMS awareness across site at all levels.
Ü
Conduct internal audits in accordance with the internal audit plan. This will include creating audit reports, raising Corrective Action Reports (CARs) for any non-conformities, and following actions to verification and closure.
Ü
Support the Quality Assurance team during customer and regulatory audits and assessments in all aspects of the IMS.
Ü
Support the supplier audit plan by conducting supplier audits as required.
Ü
Supporting the Quality Assurance team in raising change notes if required.
Ü
Provide support to Customer Services regarding customer complaints and raising CARs as required.
Ü
Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.
The Person
Essential Criteria
Ü
4 GCSEs including grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent qualification or experience.
Ü
Previous experience in a Quality Assurance related role within a highly regulated manufacturing organization (e.g. nuclear, aerospace, medical etc).
Ü
ISO9001 Lead Assessor qualification.
Ü
Experience in conducting internal audits.
Ü
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business and work directly with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
Ü
Experience in working with problem solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5Why’s etc.
Ü
Excellent communicator with experience in presenting to all levels of a business including management and shop-floor employees.
Ü
Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Ü
High level of attention to detail.
Ü
Ability to manage own time and deliverables effectively.
Ü
Demonstrable desire to progress and succeed.
Ü
Demonstrable positive attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
Desirable Criteria
Ü
Knowledge and experience of ISO14001, ISO45001, ASME ‘N’ & ‘NPT’, PED, ATEX and Functional Safety.
Ü
Experience in working with APQP related elements such as PPAP, Control Plans, DFMEA, PFMEA.
Ü
Mechanical Engineering background.
Ü
Experience in conducting supplier audits.
Ü
Knowledge of NDE testing – formal training may be provided if not qualified.
Ü
NDE / PCN Level 2 Qualified.
Ü
Good general understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
