Software Engineer

Rapid Spike is based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. We are an award-winning tech startup working on cutting edge web monitoring for major brands around the world.
We are looking for a full-time software engineer to join our team. You will work on our award-winning platform and also in developing an exciting new portal and brand. This is a challenging, varied role where you will quickly gain a great deal of experience as part of a fast-moving and exciting technology company.
Salary: £40-50k depending on experience.
Core Skills
- OOP PHP (3 years +)
- AWS - EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, Timestream, Lambda, Sage Maker
- My SQL, Redis, Postgre SQL
- Python (and frameworks/libraries including Tensor Flow, Py Torch, Num Py etc)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling
- Data Science, working with AIs, LLM, ML
- React framework
- Experience with developing Saa S / Cloud platforms
- Understanding of internet, server and website terminology and concepts - e.g. page load performance, web vitals, DNS, waterfalls, CSPs, Magecart, formjacking, etc
- Experience working with internet monitoring, security, performance or automation tools - e.g. Google Lighthouse, Webpage Test, GTMetrics, Browserstack, Selenium etc
Rapid Spike is a cloud-based monitoring system that utilises cutting-edge technology to deliver critical alerting and insights for some of the world’s biggest companies. We are an agile and dynamic team committed to delivering excellence in web performance, security, and user experience monitoring.
The successful candidate will have the chance to be a key architect in designing and implementing an exciting new AI project and Saa S platform. The candidate will also help support our development team working on our existing cloud platform.
This role requires a creative problem-solver with a strong understanding of cloud services and devops.
Key Responsibilities
- AI-Led Project: Collaborate on an exciting new AI-led project, contributing to back-end development and ensuring seamless integration with backend services.
- Platform Maintenance: Maintain and enhance the current Rapid Spike platform, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and user-friendly.
- Collaborate: Work closely with product, customer and other developers to implement new features and improve existing ones.
- Code Quality and Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while following best practices in web development.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions are current and competitive.
Our office is in Leeds city centre, 5 minutes walk from Leeds train station. We currently practice flexible distributed working with plenty of scope for home working (usually 3-4 days per week), along with assistance for setting up your home office environment.
Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with core hours being 9am-5:30pm.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
