Position Overview
This position works cooperatively with school staff, parents and students to help the school accomplish its mission to provide an educational environment that is loving, safe, and supportive, focused on preparing students academically, socially, and emotionally for their future lives of success. The EA mayl conduct small group instruction, manage classroom monitoring and behavior modification, and nurturing of students. Candidates should have a passion for modeling positive contributions to the school culture through high expectations, professional collaboration, strong relationships with students and families, and a spirit of coachability.
Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
School Operations

• Adapt/modify instruction based on student need

• Knowledge of personalizing learning for students including academic differentiation and behavioral strategies

• Support and facilitate instruction in an engaging, safe classroom environment.

• Implement, execute, and measure academic success at the classroom level alongside the classroom teacher.

• Assist with the ongoing review and improvement of processes and procedures related to the school.

• Follow established teaching protocols and programs to ensure consistency among all campuses.

• Work cooperatively and interact positively with students, parents, staff and community.

• Support classroom management and escalate issues to appropriate personnel, as applicable.

• High presence and availability to all students, faculty and parents.

• Monitor students during break, lunch and recess.

• Supervise co-curricular activities, as needed.

• Support duties with other staff such as, but not limited to, specialist classes, lunch duty, and recess.

Administrative

• Participate and attend school functions and faculty meetings.

• Participate in ensuring a positive and co-operative culture and climate exists within the school.

• Sub for teacher absences, when needed.

• Support the preparation for and attend teacher conferences as scheduled, and as needed for individual students.

Experience and Requirements

• Must believe in research based teaching philosophy and principles and extend those to students and families.

• Minimum of a high school diploma required.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner with a diverse population of children, youth and adults.

• Possess the ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

• Experience working in a school environment, including general knowledge of issues facing trauma and autism, is desired.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to effectively collaborate with other disciplines in problem solving.

• Ability to communicate and work in multiple settings and environments.

• Has a growth mindset and coachable spirit.

Working Conditions

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, depending on work task.

• Work will be performed in a school environment.

• Willingness to be outside with students during recess/breaks.

• Clear need to understand and support efforts in child and school safety.
