Job Description:

The Department of Administrative Services is currently seeking and individual to fill an Accountant I position. As an Accountant I you will processes, add or update requests for system records in the Payroll and Financial Center (f/k/a Enterprise One—E1, Nebraska Information System—NIS) using the address book maintenance application. They ensure all records are in compliance with State, Federal, and United State Postal Service requirements.

Job Duties: Processes all Address Book add or update requests from the various State agencies in the State Accounting system - ensuring compliance with all State guidelines. Maintains and updates banking information for State vendors so that electronic payments can be made. Works with agencies and vendors to answer any questions arising from State vendor records and vendor payments. Verifies proper vendor classification to ensure compliance with IRS 1099 and B notice requirements. All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working with the State E1 accounting system. Previous experience working with a vendor maintenance system. Experience with IRS TIN matching.
Other: Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be highly organized, have the ability to prioritize work assignments, be detail oriented, perform duties accurately and be customer service oriented.
