Position: Classroom Coach/Teaching Assistant
School: Western New York Maritime Charter School (WNY Maritime)
Location: Buffalo, NY

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement engaging lessons that meet students' academic and social-emotional needs.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages trust, respect, and open communication.
Collaborate with a dedicated team to provide comprehensive support and resources for our students.
Actively participate in training and professional development, particularly in trauma-informed education, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
Communicate regularly with families, building a bridge of support between home and school.
Serve as a mentor, advisor, and advocate for students, helping them navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred but not required for this position (Master's preferred).
Experience working with students facing high trauma or poverty is highly valued.
Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning frameworks is a plus.
