The Record Office is a complex work area responsible for the interpretation of court documents, intake and release of all prisoners, transfer of prisoners within and outside of the department, processing of all pending felony charges and outstanding felony warrants. Ensures the daily inmate count is accurate based on the completion of the daily bulletin and review of all movements into and out of the facility. This position researches and analyzes data from MDOC and outside agency databases and prepares reports on a daily basis to assist other facility staff. Specifically the review and interpretation of data from the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) Offender Management Network Information System (OMNI), Corrections Management Information System (CMIS), Michigan Criminal Justice Information Network (Mi CJIN), Inmate Tracking System (ITS) are necessary to complete all tasks. This position is responsible for data entry, file maintenance and technical duties related to prisoner misconducts.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a high school diploma or a GED Certificate.

Experience
Departmental Technician 7One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Departmental Technician 8One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

Departmental Technician E9Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing advanced secretarial or supervisory administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.


Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7
Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.
OR One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Retirement Programs: The State of Michigan offers 401(k) and 457 plans for new hires to save for retirement. Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.

Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay.
