TITLE:
Family Support Coordinator
Bilingual Portuguese is highly preferred
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary focus of the Family Support Coordinator is to develop and implement a strength-based approach to family engagement by focusing on the development of a positive and affirming school culture. The Family Support Coordinator proactively and intentionally works to improve the climate and the culture of the school, support family empowerment, and partner with a network of community partners to facilitate prompt access to the holistic needs of students. This position will be grounded in the school but will also work to cultivate relationships with community serving providers who address issues of access for families. By serving as the facilitator of two-way communication with the community, the Family Support Coordinator will expand the school's capacity to address the non-academic needs of students by working in collaboration with the school administration and support staff.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

- Successful experience organizing parents within an urban community.
- Ability to create and establish effective working relationships with community partners and individuals with varying beliefs and lifestyles.
- Prior experience managing student supports across the continuum of prevention & enrichment services, early intervention services, and intensive / crisis intervention services
- Demonstrated ability in working with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with building administrators with regard to program implementation

- Collaborate with a district-wide network of Family Support Coordinators to provide holistic support and coordinated communication between the public schools and community partners.
- Serve on the district-wide Family Engagement task force supporting the development of a comprehensive family and community engagement plan.
- Coordinate and manage community resources to support student success in academics, college and career readiness, family and community engagement, and overall health and wellness.
- Develop school-based strategies and procedures that support positive school culture, strong family engagement, and triage student needs, and arrange the appropriate intervention.
- Create effective linkages or pathways to community social services.
- Systematically identify individual student needs in key academic and non-academic areas.
- Develop and monitor and conduct quarterly reviews of each student’s Individual Success Plan to assess the need for changes in the supports linked to student need for the purpose of accelerating student achievement.
- Integrate behavioral health and positive behavioral strategies throughout the school.
- Ensure the delivery of school and community resources, tailoring services to student needs (including prevention, enrichment, early intervention, and intensive / crisis response).
- Convene relevant agencies and organizations to monitor program effectiveness.
- Increasing the coherence of community partners with the school’s intended outcomes.
- Track, measure, and monitor data to map effectiveness
- Collaborate with other Wraparound Zone Outreach Coordinators to present cases, strategize, and share best practices.
- Recommend improvements to district policies and school practices to ensure the effective removal of barriers to learning.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and implement components, indicators, and measures of the school accountability plan relevant to wraparound services supporting school and student success
- Coordinate training and professional development relevant to wraparound support school and community stakeholders.

- The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

- The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone.
- The employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of others as well as speak frequently to provide instruction.
- On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces.
- The employee will be working in a normal school environment as well as with an acceptable level of noise.
- The employee interacts with students, parents, and other staff members.
