Fire Alarm Technician

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to join our Auburn, ME office. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Your duties will include conducting site assessments, programming alarm systems, performing inspections and testing to ensure functionality and compliance with local and national fire codes, and responding to service calls. You will work closely with project managers and clients to provide exceptional service and ensure the safety of occupants. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in fire alarm systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Installation: Install fire alarm systems in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Ensure that installations meet all required codes and standards.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform regular maintenance checks and repairs on existing fire alarm systems to ensure they are functioning correctly. Address any issues promptly to prevent system failures.
- Testing & Inspection: Conduct thorough testing and inspections of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with national and local fire safety codes. Document and report findings accurately.
- Programming: Program and configure fire alarm systems according to specifications and requirements. Customize settings to meet the unique needs of each location.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with fire alarm systems. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members as needed.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to explain the functions of their fire alarm systems, address their concerns, and provide training on system usage.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Compliance: Stay informed about industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Ensure all work complies with relevant fire codes and safety standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution and high-quality outcomes.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in fire alarm installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of national and local fire codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in programming and configuring fire alarm systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights and in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, such as climbing, bending, and reaching.
